Billing itself as the Internet drug list, the RxList provides detailed information about medications. You can do a keyword search by a drug's brand name, its actions, or its interactions. You can also take a peek at the top 200 prescriptions of 1998 and find alternative-medicine FAQs, including information about homeopathy, Chinese herbs, and Ayurvedics.

Healthfinder   
A valuable U.S. government resource, Healthfinder offers a clean, simple interface with direct links to hot topics (flu, AIDS, tobacco), the latest government health news, prevention resources, libraries, medical dictionaries, and much more. It's a good resource if you're new to web browsing and are easily overwhelmed by complicated page designs but still want reliable access to reputable health links.

National Institutes of Health   
The NIH is one of the eight health agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The NIH has 25 separate agencies and centers that include the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, among others. The NIH site is as large as it is comprehensive, and you'll find links to each of the affiliated agencies from the NIH home page. This site also offers invaluable information on clinical trials, health hotlines, and consumer health publications.
